If not treated, eating disorders can put a person’s health and life at risk. Society puts an extreme amount of pressure on people to look a certain way, leading to a lot of children, teens and adults experiencing an extreme dissatisfaction with their body. Poor body image can lead to unhealthy and dangerous behaviors and eating disorders. We will teach ways to challenge the messaging from society, social media, peers, etc. and help you learn skills to develop a healthier body image. Body dissatisfaction, trauma, stress, feeling a lack of control, perfectionism can all cause eating disorders. Eating disorder behaviors are a slippery slope and it is critical to get professional help as soon as possible. Eating disorder recovery is hard, but with professional help, you can get better.

Grief and Loss

Loss and grief are part of the human experience, but they are emotions that no one should have to go through alone. We will provide support, help and guidance with the uncertainty and complex feelings. We have a hard time speaking about our pain & emotions associated with our losses & grief. Loss affects us in every aspect of our life and self. Often, we suppress our complex emotions that come with grief & loss because we don’t know how to manage it all. We naturally hope that we will “get over” our loss and wonder why we are still struggling months later because of expectations- whether we place them on ourselves or others place their expectations on us. The truth is, we never “get over” the loss of a loved one- death ends a life but does not end a relationship. We change and the loss of a loved one becomes part of our story. Grieving and mourning affects everyone differently. Grief is not the same for anyone, it is a very personal experience but that does not mean you are alone and have to go through it alone. You need support in loss and you need a place of safety and trust to help you on your journey.

Perfectionism

Perfectionism is rampant in our society and typically comes from not feeling good enough or worthy. Because we don’t feel good enough, we hustle for worthiness, constantly trying to perform, please, & accomplish while never messing up. We live in a world of constant comparison, social media filters, and unrealistic expectations. If you are hyper-critical of yourself and have extremely high expectations, you could be experiencing perfectionism. Perfectionism is self defeating and can lead to depression, anxiety, eating disorders and other mental health issues. Perfectionism can get in the way of being able to experience joy and happiness because there is always a moving target. We understand perfectionism and will help you navigate through the challenges and we will help you create a healthier sense of self and more realistic expectations.
